Sam Andros, LMSW, LAAC, True Therapy Scottsdale

Meet Samantha Andros, LMSW, LAAC

Samantha Andros is a licensed therapist with a deep well of compassion, wisdom, and life experience. She brings a rich professional background to her work at True Therapy, where she supports teens (14+), adults, families, and couples with care that is relational, inclusive, and rooted in evidence-based practices.

She supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma (including complex trauma and PTSD), grief and loss, low self-worth, identity development, relationship dynamics, boundary-setting, communication, sexuality and gender exploration, and intergenerational patterns. She also brings a strong background in treating substance use and behavioral addictions – including internet, social media, video games, food, and shopping.

Clients working with Samantha often describe her as warm, calm, and supportive. She brings humor and humility into her work and creates a space where people feel safe to explore difficult emotions, challenge patterns that no longer serve them, and reconnect with meaning, purpose, and self-trust.

Always Passionate About People

Before becoming a therapist, Sam spent three decades in education, mentoring and teaching students in underserved communities across the U.S. That career included roles as a classroom teacher, interventionist, curriculum consultant, and juvenile detention supervisor. She also provided private support for teens navigating academic and behavioral challenges. Whether she’s in the classroom or the therapy room, Sam’s focus has always been on helping people grow, heal, and access their full potential.

Samantha completed her Master of Social Work degree at Indiana University, with a behavioral health emphasis and specialized training in dual diagnosis treatment (mental health and substance use). She also holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Purdue University and has post-graduate certifications in Traumatic Stress Studies and Motivational Interviewing. She integrates a wide range of modalities into her work – including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman Method for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and experiential, somatic-based, and mindfulness approaches. Her clinical perspective is grounded in family systems and attachment and informed by trauma-responsive care.

A Bit About Sam IRL

Sam and her husband recently relocated to Arizona to be closer to family. She enjoys exploring mountain trails, traveling, and spending time near water. She deeply values long-standing friendships and strong community connections – and she’s always up for a spontaneous living room dance party.

And, of course, Samantha brings a spirit of lifelong learning to her work and is currently pursuing advanced training in the Gottman Method, EMDR, ERP, and somatic approaches to trauma – including work related to structural dissociation.
